From now on, you will always be the Man of the Year .

In 2006, Time Magazine selected "You" to be the "Man of the Year". The You in your own mirror. The reasons include something like, that the advance of technology has given individuals unprecedented power to control their own destiny, more influential than any one else in the world. Since then, the Magazine's choice should have been renamed "Second Best Man of the Year".

I would like to add that whatever storms occur in the world, you are in it - the currency storm, the tech boom-and-bust, the stock market collapse, the real estate bubble, the banking crisis. It doesn't matter where and what you are doing for a living. Christian churches do close from time to time due to lack of attendance, or really the lack of donations to support the local church and the clergies. What do you think how well other religions are doing, especially for religions that provide high value (expensive) courses and rely on large sums of donations from rich believers?

If you are interested in finance, you probably have heard about the prediction that the stock market will collapse because of the ability by some to sell huge numbers of stocks that they don't own. Indeed Wikipedia had banned the IP address from the US Treasury Department from editing the relevant pages to hide their weakness. The stock market did collapsed whichever way you measure it. It's not some mystical fortune telling. You only need to search and open your eyes. Language is not an excuse. The free Google online translators give you a good idea of the content of any article, and the free online dictionaries are as good as any. You could have known about it, and could have plenty of chances to do something about it, unless you were busy digging yourself a hole in Australia, or busy fighting with your students in a high school.

The power of individuals have exceeded large corporations. The high-tech industry, the mortgage industry, and the real estate industry had all paved their own path to destruction. During the boom times, conservative executives with realistic estimates are sidelined or fired. No company could admit that they are not growing rapidly in order to justify the highly inflated company stock price. If you don't know about that after the tech-bust, you history classes at school failed you. The same thing repeated. Just before the mortgage/real estate crisis become apparent, the lending rules and property estimates were not tightened at all. If you call up any company to borrow money, you will have known. If the big companies tried to do anything at all, they are admitting that there are problems, and they would have collapsed sooner.

Knowing it and do something about it is very different. In the currency crisis, I knew people bet their cash on the govt's 10%-15% overnight interest, and lose. In the Asian real estate collapse, I know people who moved to smaller houses, just to put their cash into the stock market, which collapsed a little later. Decisions aren't difficult at all, if you listen to Soro, the greatest currency speculator of all time, who said that in the British pound incident he could only lost a little but won a lot. Similarly, if you pick a job that have no health coverage forever, you can lose a lot but win very little.

But some people really can't do anything about it. They are the luckiest ones I would say. If you never had a job before and your parent didn't need you to feed them yet, you are in luck, as you haven't loss anything in contrast to most other people in the world.

If you believe that life is a game, play by the rules, play like winners do, make the most of it whatever your hand is, not by taking risk that are not justified. If you don't look at alternative strategies and decide for yourself, you will lose. If you can't even play the "school" game well, what do you expect?

You know you are making good decisions if you are buying good stuff from the Internet. You can tell what reviews are real and what are fake, irrespective of their numbers. Of course you don't buy things that you can't tell if it's good or bad at all, even in your hands.

However, most people can't move into smaller houses when they aren't forced to. If you fight yourself, you will end up in depression - do something that you don't want, want something that you can't afford. Life is about compromises - to know what is best for you, but try to do what you can do. Forcing yourself to sleep less is your worst enemy.

Did someone try to sell you local farm Salmon? I can tell you that once you tasted wild salmon, the other are just pork. Wild salmon are hard to get. An unpolluted source is from Alaska, only available for a short time of the year. The next best are Norwegian farm salmon, almost organic, and exported all over the world. The fat layers, white strips, are as thin as the wild ones. The rest are just fat pork that taste poorly. Now, who do you believe? If you still don't know the answer, use the search engines, before somebody tell you not to look.
